To expand on this a little farther, you want 5/8" at the rear of the clutch on the edge toward the motor, the other side of the clutch (toward the seat) should be less, since the motor torque will change the angle. Also, yes, you very much want the clutch to slide ~1/32" each way from that 5/8" alignment.
